Barcelona ran out 3-2 winners against Real Madrid in last weekend’s Clasico at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, with a last-minute goal securing all three points for the Catalan club in dramatic fashion. It was a tremendously entertaining game between Spanish football’s two biggest sides, and one which provides a major boost to Barca’s chances of finishing on top of the pile this term.
Next up for the Blaugrana is a Catalan derby against Espanyol, who will be desperate to get one over on their neighbours in front of their own supporters at the RCDE Stadium. A Barcelona win with both teams to score is my tip here – you can find that wager in the sportsbook at odds of 2.45.
My betting tip: Barcelona to beat Espanyol.
Real Madrid vs Valencia
Despite that defeat by their biggest rivals last weekend, Madrid still have their La Liga title hopes in their own hands at the time of writing. Los Blancos need to dust themselves down ahead of their upcoming clash with Valencia at the Bernabeu, which takes place just a few days before the first leg of their Champions League semi-final against Atletico Madrid. Valencia won the reverse fixture earlier this term, but I find it difficult to envisage anything other than a home win here. You can back Madrid to win to nil at odds of 2.95, while a 2-0 triumph is offered at 10.00.
My betting tip: Real Madrid to beat Valencia.
Las Palmas vs Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid are favourites to finish third in the La Liga standings, with the Colchoneros aiming to close the gap separating them from the top two in the final weeks of the campaign. Las Palmas, meanwhile, still have a chance to end the season in the top half of the table, although their recent results mean they are more likely to finish in the bottom 10. Atleti have been so professional since the turn of the year, and it is hard to see them slipping up in this one. I’ll therefore be putting some money on the capital club to win without conceding.
My betting tip: Atletico Madrid to beat Las Palmas.
Malaga vs Sevilla
Sevilla may have dropped out of the race for the title in the last couple of months, but it is important to remember that they have still had an excellent season under the guidance of a new manager. Champions League football is all but sewn up for 2017/18, while 15th-placed Malaga also have little left to play for in the four remaining matchdays of the campaign. I reckon this one will finish with honours even, so my tip here is a draw between Malaga and Sevilla with both teams to score – that’s offered at 4.40.
My betting tip: Malaga to draw with Sevilla.
Elsewhere, Villarreal’s top-four hopes may be over but they are still pushing for fifth spot behind Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla. Their opponents this weekend will be Sporting Gijon, who edged a point closer to safety with a draw against Osasuna last weekend. I can’t look past a Villarreal victory here – if you agree, consider adding a win for the Yellow Submarine to any of the above selections to make a combi bet.
