Mega Joker might seem a little overwhelming at first, but it really isn't. To begin with: focus on the bottom half of the screen, and the slot there. That's the one you'll play to begin with. You can play using either 1 or 5 bet lines. Playing using 5 bet lines (max bet) is required to gain entrance to the second slot, and is therefore usually preferable. Playing then proceeds as with any other slot: you hit the spin button and cross those winning fingers. All winning combinations are displayed on the main screen, for convenience.
When you win playing the normal slot, you'll get the chance to use that money playing the Mega Joker. At any time, you can collect your winnings, and return to the normal game-info. Playing Mega Joker, you can chose between several different bet levels. The higher bet levels don’t only increase the amount you can win, but also unlocks some potentially very rewarding features. Bet high enough, and a joker appearing on the middle reel (or any reel, assuming an even higher bet), will give you a mystery reward which may be not that high, or very high indeed. Like with the normal game, all payouts are clearly visible, along with the bet sizes required.
The story behind Mega Joker? Well, jokers will be jokers. Mega Joker doesn't have much of a story, focusing instead on slot playability. Most of the classic fruit symbols are present, but that doesn't as much tell you a story as make you hungry. The heart and soul of Mega Joker, though, is the joker himself, and the very random prizes he awards. And possibly that's the seed of a story right there, “This one time, I got this really big joker prize, and...”
Mega Joker is a kind of two in one slot. The first slot, the regular one, you largely play to get the opportunity to play on the second one, where the big money is. Of course, if you are content with the smaller prizes on the regular one, that's fine too. But that is missing a big part of the charm of Mega Joker: the feeling of excitement when you win and get the chance to bet your winnings on the Mega Joker part of the slot.
This is an interesting and innovative slot, that also just so happens to be really fun to play. There's a constant level of excitement that rises and falls alongside your luck. Mystery wins, and the chance to win a progressive jackpot is just icing on the cake.
